FAQ

How much do lessons cost?

$35 per half hour lesson. $60 for an hour. Purchased in sets of 8 or 16. If you buy 16 lessons, you get a free 17th lesson. A family rate of $30 per half hour lesson is also available if more than one family member signs up.

How long are lessons?

Most lessons are 30 minutes. A more advanced student might opt for 60 minutes.

Do I need my own instrument?

Yes. However, I can bring a guitar or ukulele for you to play for your free trial lesson, and if you are local and considering piano lessons, you can come to my studio and play my keyboard for your trial lesson.

Which guitar, piano, or ukulele should I get?

It depends on your budget, personal tastes, hand size, etc. I can recommend some brands and models after meeting with you. If you are local, I'll even go to a music store and shop for an instrument with you!

How much should I practice?

How good do you want to get? As with any other skill, the more often you practice, the faster you'll improve. At minimum, beginners should practice 10-15 minutes a day. As you get better (and as young students grow older), the amount of practice time should increase. By the time you are an intermediate player, you should be practicing at least 45 minutes a day. If you are really starting to get serious, it'll have to be 2 hours a day or more. Putting my money where my mouth is, I personally practice 3 to 5 hours a day, depending on my schedule.
